I came to the Money Heist series late in the day. But, totally by accident, in the correct order. And it occurred to me that , if you enjoy crime capers but haven’t yet discovered these, it might help if I share these comments.
Again, for those not yet familiar with Money Heist, I should probably explain that these are all available on Netflix, and are Spanish productions with very acceptable English-language dubbing.
In Spain, it’s La Casa de Papel, created by Álex Pina. The first season was released in two lengthy parts during 2017. The second season, also in two parts, released during 2019 and 2020. And the third season released during 2021.
Lots of action and great music. This includes two of my favourites. They both also appear in my Jack Telford novels. The first, the Italian anti-fascist, anti-Nazi anthem, Bella Ciao. This became, thanks to the series, a summer hit just about everywhere in 2018. The second, the Portuguese marching song, Grândola, Vila Morena. This, of course, helped to launch the Carnation Revolution of 1974.
But one of the central and most complex of Money Heist‘s many characters is Berlín, played brilliantly by actor Pedro Alonso.
The production team therefore decided to bring us some prequels. Berlín’s back story. Adventures taking place long before the events of the original Money Heist. These are, in turn, Money Heist: Berlín and the Jewels of Paris (2023). And Money Heist: Berlín and the Lady with an Ermine (2026).
If you get the chance, therefore, watch them in the correct “chronological” order.
